How it works

This year we must act accordingly with Maine State guidelines and the University of Maine policy. Given this the Maine Department of Economic & Community Development is not recommending any sort of road race or likewise activity. This leaves us with no choice but to run the event remotely. We know its not ideal and the event will be missed, but it’s no excuse for us all not to keep the legacy of 1st Lt Zimmerman alive.

The Fitness Challenge this year will be split into two categories. The Hard Core 8 mile road race and the Motivated 4 mile road race. Teams up to 4 people are still encouraged, however entries of any number between 1 and 4 people will be taken.

To take place in the event this year get your team together and have each person register here online under “Compete”. Once that is done and your team is together coordinate a time to run your chosen race between April 15th and April 18th. Take lots of photos and be sure to tag us on Facebook. We will share them so all of our other participants can see!

Once your team has completed its run have one member submit a picture of the run to our email We will accept a picture of just about any run tracking software such as Garmin, Strava, Runkeeper, Pacer, ect… After Sunday the 18th we will tally and publish all the results here and on our facebook page. The winners of each run will then be contacted to receive their award!

Shirts will also be made this year and shipped out to participants if they wish. Make sure to include your address and size in the registration form!!
